30 Artists in 30 Days Feature

October Feature

If you follow me on Social Media, you would know that I’m a fan of art.  If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you are too.  So I am preparing something very special for you, my dear starlings!  Yes, 30 Artists being interviewed and will be posted daily for 30 days, commencing on 1st October 2017.

Some artists have become household names but some are lesser known, yet just as amazing.  They range from collage artists to water and oil paint artists to digital artists.  Hey, there’s even some street artists in there (I’ll keep you guessing).  I’m really looking forward to sharing their artwork and interviews with you all.

If you’re not already a subscriber to this site, you can enter your email address at the bottom of the page.  You will only receive notifications when new posts are uploaded.  In October, this will be daily so apologies in advance if I drive you insane.  But still, subscribe.  It’s good for your left brain.  You will be sure to fall in love with some of the creatives out there.

If you’re a photographer or prefer photography, don’t worry.  I got your back.  Photography features will follow in upcoming months.

Alllrrrright I get it, you’ve subscribed to too many e-mails already.  That’s ok.  Just follow me on Instagram and Facebook and you will see daily posts of the days feature artist.  Deal?  Please see my social links at the bottom of the the page.

Over and out until the 1st October.

Veronika Vajdova

Day 20 – Veronika Vajdova

Veronika Vajdova from Glasgow is currently studying 3D animation and visualisation but in her spare time, likes to create unbelievably beautiful art!  Can’t wait to see Veronika’s 3D art in the near future!

Are you a self taught artist, or what studies did you do to get where you are today?
I am a self taught artist who was always obsessed with art, but I always saw it as something you don’t pursue as a career, which I guess is how my family saw art, as something fit for a hobby. Originally I was a medical student who created art in her free time, but somewhere along the way I realized that art is what I was meant to do and I kept looking for a fitting course. Right now I am a 3D animation & visualisation student in the UK.

Beautiful Hell © Veronika VajdovaWhat tools, programs and apps do you love or cannot live without?
I definitely cannot survive without my Wacom and Photoshop. Hand in hand with them goes Spotify and my audiobooks that get me in the right work mood.

Your art provides inspirations to so many others.  What or who inspires you?
Artist who really made an impact on me was probably my mom, who has always been an extremely creative person, painting with oils, knitting, sewing, stitching and a lot more… she has taught me that it’s not about expensive or professional tools, it’s about the time you spend practising, training and learning. Of course higher quality of tools helps, but it can only add some polish to your work, it cannot create real art.

Can you describe your process including how long a piece of art or photography takes you from concept to complete?
Sometimes some ideas just pop in my head and I write them down or just scribble something in the corner of a sketchbook, then I draw a sketch on Photoshop and start adding colors and layers.  The finished illustration is rarely what I had in mind in the beginning. I tend to get inspired on Tumblr or Pinterest.

What part of your process do you love the most?
Probably the beginning, when it’s all still raw and the finished idea keeps changing in my mind and the end, which means the part where I’m just adding small details that some people might or might not notice.

If you weren’t an artist, what do you think you would be doing for work?
I’d probably be working in medical field.

Who is the most fascinating or inspiring person you have met or worked with?
Haha, my sister insists it’s her, *sigh* …sisters. I probably can’t talk about one person, but I’ve met certain people who had a difficult life and had to work extremely hard and overcome lots of hardship to get where they are now and I really admire their strength and dedication to their dreams.

Metamorphosis © Veronika VajdovaWhat artwork of yours are you most proud of?
Probably “Metamorphosis”, because I had a hate/love relationship with it and I did not think I was ever going to finish it.

What’s next in the professional pipe works for you?
Uni is about to start again, so I believe I’ll be creating lots of 3D art while trying to kick off my Patreon in my free time 🙂

Bonus Fun Questions
What is your pet peeve?  People who chew too loudly… or sing out loud. Especially if they can’t sing. Please. Stop.
What is your current favourite album? Relaxer from Alt-J
Apart from art, what is your favourite thing to do? I love to read and watch fantasy/sci-fi movies, I am also obsessed with detailed “making of” and “behind the scenes” videos from movies.
If you could tame any animal and have it as a pet, which one would it be and why? It would probably be a wolf… because I love big dogs 😀
